Changing Trends In Information Technology

Dear Readers,
Good Morning & Greetings of the day!

I completed Masters in Computer Applications (M.C.A) in 2002 and I was the college Topper. Major part of my 15 years of experience is in Software Development, Project Management and Business Analysis. Today I was thinking about the rapid changes which has recently happened in I.T and thought of writing this article “Changing Trends in Information Technology”. I still remember the days of my college when we used to have very limited access of internet, computer systems with 1.44MB of floppy disks, 128 MB RAM and 4 G.B Harddisk, mobile phone access was a dream. Now you yourself can see the rapid change in technology that everyone these days is equipped with many gadgets and by the year 2020, it is expected to have 45 billion total gadgets/devices in the world.

Who is making this transformation? A big question and a simple answer ….. the Engineers.

Because Science can amuse and fascinate us all, but it is engineering that changes the world by using science concepts and hence your contribution as engineers is prominent. We shall feel proud for this.

Let’s me recall the names of some of the recent I.T revolutions:

1. Mobile Wallets like Bhim app, BitCoin, Paytm etc for quick money transfer, what an amazing technology trend we have got which transformed the ways money can be used.

2. Cloud Computing Based Systems: This new trend of hosting your applications and pay for the resources you use has really give flexibility and cost reduction in IT infrastructure of many companies. Cloud computing is not only about the use of hardware resources, even the softwares are being developed to be installed on in 1 place i.e Cloud Server and let multiple user’s subscribe and use the Software as a Service that we call SaaS model.

3. Mobile Apps: Its one of the biggest recent day’s transformation in IT industry which has given jobs to millions of App developers and produced an average of approx. 30-35 billion dollar worldwide in recent years. It’s a big industry, a big revolution.

4. Geo-location based programming to build the greatest apps like Google map, Uber etc where you search and locate things on map in real time.

5. Easy to use GUI in all systems: Compare the current time where an illiterate person can operate smart phones for apps like whatsapp and facebook versus the time where we had DOS or Foxpro based interfaces which required technical knowledge to command.

6. Virtual machines, BigData for complex analytics, 3D Printing, Intelligent robotics based machines, biometrics based digital identities and many more are in trends these days.

7. Finally, I would like to mention one more example of the changing technology trend in Jobs & Employment. As of now we might be using various job portals to fill lengthy forms, create TEXT based CV and send it via Email or Print.

In this rapid age of changing trends, do we really need to visit employers with lengthy text CV’s for interview?

Most of you would agree that we can utilize the power of Mobile Apps to search Map based jobs or candidates, create our Video CV with few clicks so Employers can just watch our real Video Intro or Video CV in just 1 minute and decide to shortlist us. Video Interview can be done online via mobile app and then we just need to go to employer office to finally pick up the offer letter and to exchange thanks and greetings.

We have developed and made BETA VERSION this revolutionary app available in Google Play App Store for Android, Its Quik Hiring. I request you all to try download it, create your Video intro and share on your whatsapp or facebook wall. You can find more details about the app on its website: www.quikhiring.com.

Use it and keep yourself advanced, be the part of the change which is going to kick out the text based CV system.

No matter what industry you’re in, you can’t survive without technology. To stay competitive, you and your organization needs to utilize the most significant technology trends.

Founder of Google “Mr. Larry Page” said, “Especially in technology, we need revolutionary change, not incremental change.”

We all shall keep our study and learning in a direction where we can learn and adopt something different to create something new.

Finally, I want to give my message to all students and professionals that all fingers are not equal, never compare yourself with others as they might be having different interests and different capabilities. Create your own goal, and compare your achievements with your Goals, celebrate every small milestone achieved.

Consistency is the key of success, make your own schedule, and follow it consistently so you do not need to feel the pressure of the 11th hour.

I would like to dedicate 4 lines to you …

Thank you very much for your time and attention!
